3 Ideas to keep the summer fitness going

It's the end of the summer holidays, back to school, back to work and suddenly we get absorbed by our high-speed life. When this happens, often we overlook health and well-being to satisfy financial and family responsibilities.
Whether you are single, a parent, a full-time employee, or somewhere in between, September should be a month for you to set the intention of your fitness plan for the end of the year and the beginning of the next year. During summer we feel pumped up with optimism as the sun is shining, the days are longer and there just seems to be more time to do things.
Summer just finished, prolong that awesome feeling and let’s make a plan!
Schedule your routine
If you set up a good routine now, things will be a lot easier when we get to the shorter, darker, and colder months. The root of your work would be strong and will withstand.
Every Sunday have a look at your weekly schedule and set a time to exercise, make sure you write it in your diary as if it was a meeting that you can’t cancel.
Remember, this doesn’t have to be 1hr. See if you can find 2-3 days where you can set aside 30min, and for the rest of the days try and find 10min-15 min.
It’s better for you to do something on a regular basis than to go to the gym for 1hr only once per week and then feel exhausted for three days. Even doing a 10 min workout is better than nothing, this will give you a sense of achievement and will make it easier to keep it up if time is what you lack.
Prepare your exercise kit one day before
It's a simple idea, but one that is well written about to work, working like a reminder for you when you get up in the morning if you have everything ready, there is no excuse.
Sometimes when we are really busy, we feel overwhelmed with the smallest things and not finding your trainers could lead to missing that small window of opportunity to exercise.
Train with a friend or book a class
If you struggle to train on your own, find classes. There are now so many options - Class Pass, for example, gives you access to many top gyms and fitness studios so you can opt to go when is convenient for you without having to pay a membership.
Train with a friend, you don’t have to go to a gym. Meet in the park, go for a short run, do some push-ups, step-ups, squats etc. and you can get to catch up at the same time! Kill two birds with one stone.
Also, there is now the option to do all types of zoom classes and zoom PT, if you don’t have much time this is a great option, you are removing the time that takes to get to the gym and this may make your workout more productive.
You can even organize with a friend to have a zoom workout together.
So, all the above isn’t rocket science, we just sometimes struggle to put ourselves first.
Don’t overcomplicate things, just prioritise your health and wellbeing by being a bit organised and making it part of your daily schedule.

Have a great September!
